Greenpeace is a self-governing organization that sincerely works to preserve the environment. Greenpeace Canada was a dream of the initiators to institute this non-profit organization. They work constantly for the peace of the environment. Greenpeace Canada was established in 1971. From the day of commencement, Greenpeace Canada has spared no pains in protesting for things that were deemed to be harmful to the environment and its species. Greenpeace challenges the government as well as the industry to put a stop to all harmful practices by adopting clean and simple methods without affecting the environment in any manner. They protest and agitate for the welfare of the environment but do not accept funds from government, political parties or companies. They are for all but no one can show their authority over Greenpeace Canada and in order to get their work done in crafty ways.
Greenpeace Canada supporters work for preserving the biodiversity in all forms. This organization is currently working to save the worlds oldest forests. Almost 80% of the forests have been ruined, so Greenpeace is striving hard to save the remaining forests. The organization does look to be succeeding in the effort of developing Great Bear Rainforest. The Boreal Forest is an abode to many endangered animal species. But, unfortunately, it is depleting as it is cut for various sources. Greenpeace Canada is agitating regarding Boreal Forest conservation. Green peace is also working diligently to stop the usage of fossil fuels and recommending useful ways for heating homes and creating methods of power such as solar and wind power. Similarly, almost 70% of the products available in the supermarkets in Canada are genetically engineered products. The components of these products have a probability of causing pollution and are a risk to human health. Greenpeace Canada is seriously working to ban engineering organisms that are genetic by nature into the environment. Greenpeace is also striving to purge contamination of toxics as they are associated to cancers, impaired mental developments and reproductive disorders. They are convincing companies to reject the PVC usage as this constitutes maximum pollution of the environment. Subsequently, they are assisting in the ocean ecosystem that should be saved, nuclear tests to be shunned and to encourage factors that do not impede the biological existence of any species on Earth.
These are some of the accomplishments of Greenpeace campaigning. Electronics monster Hewlett Packard accepted a segmented plan to stop using certain chemicals that are hazardous in March 2006. Electronics giant LG proclaimed to eliminate toxic chemicals from its consumer electronics series in August 2005. Seeing these giant companies making a change means that somehow, Greenpeace is making a difference in our environment. What is stopping us from doing the same?
